2017 in review: Sapho tripled revenue, added major customers and partners, and closed a Series B funding round

It has been less than two years since Sapho’s official launch in June 2016, and after a second consecutive year of more than 300% growth in revenue, Sapho has quickly emerged as a leading digital experience platform for employees (DXPe). Sapho added almost 10% of the Fortune 50 to its customer base during the last two quarters of 2017, contributing considerable weight to its 100% year-over-year customer growth. Sapho also added 14 new product integrations and strategic partnerships with enterprise software leaders like Microsoft, IBM, SAP, Oracle, VMware, and BMC.

But what really contributed to the company’s financial success?

Fouad ElNaggar, Sapho CEO sums it up perfectly, saying, “In 2017, large enterprises doubled down on their digital workplace transformation efforts with strategies designed to drive employee satisfaction and productivity. The growth rate of Sapho is a testament to large companies realizing that they can offer a modern experience to their employees without ripping and replacing their existing IT infrastructure.” 

But don’t just take Fouad’s word for it. We have data that supports these claims. Recently, Sapho conducted a survey with IDG surveying over 160 IT leaders at large enterprise companies with more than 1,000 employees and found that nearly 80% had big plans to modernize their enterprise apps in 2018. The leading cause—the fact that current enterprise apps offer poor user experiences to their employees. Sapho solves the number one issue CIOs and CTOs are facing today: the inability to provide their employees with efficient and productive workflows.

Additional Sapho 2017 highlights and milestones include:

  • Sapho raised $14 million of Series B funding, bringing our total funding raised to nearly $30 million.
  • The employee base grew by over 50% in the last year, with the company adding new employees at both its headquarters in San Bruno, California and its office in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • We added a new executive to the team. Chief Revenue Officer, Marque Teegardin, joined Sapho after leading the sales efforts at Mirantis and StoredIQ, which was acquired by IBM in 2013.
  • Sapho also received many awards, including: appearing twice on CRN’s Emerging Vendors list, being named a Gartner “Cool Vendor”, and earning a spot on StartUp50’s Big 50 roundup of top tech startups of the year.
  • Most recently, Forrester Research published a case study featuring Sapho customer CBS Interactive.

2017 was a great year and we are excited about how Sapho will influence the digital experience platform for employees (DXPe) market in 2018 and beyond.
