Sapho Oracle EBS MPX

The modern portal experience for Oracle E-Business Suite

Oracle E-Business Suite R11 and R12 are the engines that drive many businesses. Finance teams have become experts at the intricacies of a specific EBS implementation and can make it do the impossible. However, for your typical employee who simply needs to approve a purchase order or submit for family leave, EBS can feel like going to the DMV.

The Sapho Oracle EBS MPX makes it easy for typical employees to get what they need from EBS using the modern interfaces and modern clients they use in their daily jobs. With Sapho, a manager can get a push notification about an important purchase order and approve it right from their device. An employee requesting time off can easily do it directly from within a SharePoint human resources page.

Focused integration around “active data”

Most Oracle EBS integration projects are costly and time consuming. Sapho’s proprietary ETN (Extract, Transform, prepare to Notify) technology extracts only the necessary EBS objects for specific workflows and micro apps. For example, Sapho will query EBS twice a day for new Purchase Orders and Absence Requests. Such a tightly focused integration is very viable to accomplish in a short time.

Micro apps to get you started

Sapho includes micro apps with interesting events and functions so that modernizing EBS doesn’t have to start from scratch. Sapho’s pre-built micro app templates apps include employee trips submission and approval, absence request submission and approval, purchase order submission and approval, and an employee directory. Adding your own custom fields and logic to each of these micro apps is easy with Sapho’s modern tooling.

Roll up multiple ERP systems

Many organizations have multiple ERP systems due to mergers, acquisitions, and independently operating subsidiaries. The challenge is that it is increasingly difficult to extract relevant information from these data silos, especially for global managers. Sapho solves this problem by aggregating interesting data changes and views from each source system and providing employees a single, consistent view into this data. With Sapho, significant shifts in financial reporting buried deep inside each ERP becomes an actionable push notification and approving things like purchase orders across multiple ERPs is done with a single click from one place.

Minimize impact on EBS with caching

Allowing users on the device of their choice to directly access EBS can upset carefully planned system provisioning. Sapho caches all relevant data using an on premises SQL 92 database, which can be secured according to existing policy. Users can then interact with EBS data from modern interfaces without impacting EBS performance.

Write backs and delegated authentication

User actions in Sapho micro apps invoke EBS business logic using the JDBC interface directly to EBS stored procedures. Sapho uses a single master account to connect with EBS so employees only need to use their existing Active Directory or LDAP credentials within Sapho. The user’s Active Directory or LDAP identity is mapped to EBS to ensure that the user has the rights to view data and perform actions. All write backs are recorded in an audit table as well as in the application server or system logs.
